Bluetooth annoyance

Had this happen at least twice. I went up to the locked van to unplug the charger that had been plugged in all night. Somehow in the act of doing that, the phone established a BT connection to the van. As I'm still futzing around in the garage my phone rings, but I hear nothing and the caller hears nothing. After 3 calls this way I see the BT indicator is on the phone. I kill BT from the phone and all is well again. On what planet would I want a BT pairing to the car having never entered...
