Tow hitch voids warranty?

Was just told by the dealership that adding an after market tow hitch to the hybrid will void warranty, and no manufacturer option will be available. The voiding the warranty part will be a deal breaker for me, will have to cancel order if true. Anyone else here heard similar info?
