Q on UConnect App subscription

Hi, I purchased an used 2018 MY PacHy and I believed its free trial of SiriusXM Guardian has expired. Do I need to purchase any subscription to be able to use any UConnect App functions such as remote lock/unlock, checking charging level, and OTA update alerts on my phone? Currently the app screen is blank when I logged in, with only 2 lines of text says 'No Active Subscription','There are no active subscriptions available'. TIA
