Trailer hitch?

Has anyone gotten around to installing a trailer hitch on their Hybrid? I heard musings about emissions gear (?) unique to the Hybrid blocking the usual mount points on the rear frame. Is this true? Is there a workaround? I wouldn't be averse to busting out the angle grinder… This wouldn't be for towing, per se, but rather for my trusty Thule T2 bike rack. I have a hitch on my wife's RAV4 EV for this same purpose (and on my current Land Cruiser albeit also used for towing once in a blue moon).
