Steering/Suspension - Ball Joint Availability

INFORMATION

Bulletin No.: 07-03-08-009B

Date: December 07, 2009

Subject: Two New Service Ball Joint Kits Available for Aluminum and Cast Iron Lower Control Arms - Kits NOT Interchangeable

Models:

2007-2010 Cadillac Escalade, Escalade EXT

2007-2010 Chevrolet Avalanche, Silverado, Tahoe (1500 Series)

2007-2010 GMC Sierra, Yukon (1500 Series)

Supercede:

This bulletin is being revised to add the Silverado and Sierra models and update service information. Please discard Corporate Bulletin Number

07-03-08-009A (Section 03 - Suspension).

For the 2007-2010 model years, 1500 series light duty utility vehicles were built concurrently with either aluminum or cast iron front lower control

arms. Each type of lower control arm requires a unique ball stud service part.

Important

Complete lower control arms should not be replaced for lower ball joint failures.

All lower ball joints are now serviceable on aluminum and cast iron control arms for 1500 series pickup and utility models. The kit for cast iron

control arms lower ball joints is P/N 19209396 and the aluminum lower ball joint kit is P/N 19256481. These kits are NOT interchangeable. There

are new special tools that are released to service the lower ball joints on-vehicle (J-41805 and CH-49240). For the new lower ball joint service

Door Locks - Loss of Power Door Lock Function

TECHNICAL

2010 Cadillac Truck Escalade/ESV RWD V8-6.2L Page 76

Bulletin No.: 12-08-64-001

Date: May 15, 2012

Subject: Loss of Power Door Lock Function on One or Several Doors (Repair Door Lock Knob Interference)

Models:

2008-2013 Cadillac Escalade, Escalade ESV, Escalade EXT

2007-2013 Chevrolet Avalanche, Silverado, Suburban, Tahoe

2007-2013 GMC Sierra, Sierra Denali, Yukon, Yukon Denali, Yukon XL, Yukon Denali XL

Condition

Some customers may comment that one or more of the doors do not lock/unlock when activating the power door locks. The condition can either be

intermittent or all the time.

Cause

The cause of this condition may be that the door locking button is hanging up on the window belt inner sealing strip within the door. The inboard

seal material may rub on the button causing the button to hang-up on the sealing strip. This condition can happen in either the unlock or lock

position.

Correction

Important

It is not necessary to remove the door trim panel to diagnose or repair this condition.

1. First verify the condition by removing the door locking rod knob on the affected door following the steps below:

1. Ensure the locking rod is in the unlocked position.

2. Use a flat-bladed tool to disengage the detent tab and then remove the knob (1) by pulling upward.

2. Verify interference of the door lock button to the sealing strip by visually inspecting the area behind the button for sealing strip material (1)

protruding into the door lock button area. An example of this condition is shown in the graphic above.

2010 Cadillac Truck Escalade/ESV RWD V8-6.2L Page 77

3. On the door exhibiting this interference, use a trim stick, or suitable tool, to reposition the sealing strip to the outboard side of the

down-standing tab.

4. When repositioned, the tab/seal interface should look like the example in the graphic above.

5. Reinstall the locking rod knob (1) following the steps below:

1. When re-installing the locking rod knob, push the knob down until the detent tab touches the locking rod opening cover.

2. Push the detent tab in to lock the knob to the locking rod.

3. Ensure proper travel of the locking rod knob.

Warranty Information

For vehicles repaired under warranty, use the table.
